Look @ me now
In the Look @ Me Now project we used literary devices to describe our lives right now. The literary devices that I used were theme, where I described how the theme of my life is living in the moment. Characterization/Protagonist, where Described how my sister and my mother are the most important people in my life. Antagonist, which is fear. Conflict, talking about the struggles of living in the past. Setting, I put the poem I wrote about my home city. Irony, wanting to have adventure with people but not wanting to around people. Flashback, feeling weak when I was young. Symbolism, my green journal. Foreshadowing, running away from the moments.
Theme
“Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.”- Maya Angelou
When I was younger I would always look up to the people in movies who were different. The bad boy who rode a motorcycle or the girl who would rather play roller derby than be in a beauty pageant. The type of people who add something new to others lives because they’re always doing something new themselves. The type of people who aren’t afraid of making a scene or running into something they aren’t sure of. For me, that was the type of person I always wanted in my life. So instead of waiting, I became that. I became a person who lives like I’m only here for this moment. I can’t control the past or know my future. All I have is this moment right now. So I'm going to live. I'm going to be myself and not be scared to do the things I haven’t.
